Time

Time was running out. For someone to find me. Time that I had left on this Earth. I lay here under my bed alongside the clutter of my childish things.

I roll over and face the empty stare of my mother. She had an imprint of teeth on her neck where she had been bitten by one of the monsters. Her breathing had stopped, her time had ended. She had died protecting me from them. So that I coud live on.

Her body started convulsing. She started to make noises, gurgling, groanong noises. She was alive? This can't be.

"Mum?" I call out to her. "Mum!"

I reach out and touch her outstretched hand, her fingers twitch with my touch. I feel incredible joy. She was alive!

"Mum!" I cry with happiness, still holding her hand in mine "Mum we got to...."

I shriek. Her hand clasps down onto my wrist with mighty strength, I try pulling away but I can't she is holding me too tightly. Her head rotates unaturally as if independent from her neck and her eyes flicker at me.

I realise at this moment in time, there is no life in her, she is one of them. She snarls and spits at me as she tightens her grasp piercing my skin on my wrist with her sharp finger nails.

I cry. I have rode a wave of emotion in this brief time, but it has taken me under. I scruntch my eyes tight as I let her pull me towards her, her teeth snapping at me, inviting me to join her in a world with no time.
